Looking for new ideas to promote your goals of decluttering, organization, productivity, and overall simpler living? There are, of course, numerous websites devoted to these topics, some more stellar than others, but the one site online dedicated to sharing “what’s new and popular on the web” is Reddit.
If you’re unfamiliar with Reddit, here’s a short introduction. Essentially it’s a forum for like-minded people to find each other and share links and comments about what is happening currently in the realm of their interests. As such, Reddit is divided into subreddits, each of which is its own forum for a topic with its own stated rules and regulations. Participants are encouraged to stay on topic, not to submit links for spamming purposes, and, if possible, be entertaining.
Reddit users are able to upvote or downvote these links, which makes each subreddit page dynamic: reader-approved content goes to the top of the page, reader disapproved content gets downvoted into oblivion. The end result should be better content more immediately available to the reader. Often the best part about each subreddit is not the links themselves, but the comments from readers which can be insightful, funny, sarcastic, and/or flat-out helpful. For the right audience, Reddit has proven to be entirely addictive.
